On Father’s Day it is important to take a moment to thank and recognize the Dads in our lives and the impact that their relationship has on us. This month in honor of Father’s Day, we asked employees to send us some photos of the important father figures in their lives, or the kids that they father themselves!

This month, CCi welcomed a new team member. Ingrid Martinez joins CCi as a new accounting assistant. Learn a little about her below!
Why did you get into the business?
Construction is considered to be very complex in the accounting field. It is said that if an accountant learned to understand a construction business at its full potential, any other business would be easy to manage. When I was taking my accounting classes, my professors always said that the construction industry faces a unique challenge because construction accounting is different from regular accounting practices. Construction accounting is mobile and customized, cost is categorized differently and they are constantly changing as jobs are completed. I got into the construction accounting business because I wanted to be able to understand one of the most challenging industries. As a student in accounting I was able to learn everything about regular accounting, but I wanted to learn more in order for me to move up in my career.
How long have you been in the business?
I have been in the construction accounting business for about 2 years.
What attracted you to City Constructors and what do you like about your position?
As a recent graduate student with a degree in accounting, I was looking for a job that provided me with the opportunity to acquire a deeper understanding in a construction industry, fun company culture, and a work life balance. The culture of City Constructors consists of team members that have great personality, which makes the company a pleasant place to work. Also, as a growing business, City Constructors provides the opportunity to see and learn the entire accounting process from beginning to end. Therefore, it offers the opportunity to be part of one of the most important phases of a business, in which I want to be part of. I like the position because, as an eager accounting assistant I’m able to help the team be proactive and efficient, while I build a good relationship with the team members. Also, the people I work with are great, they care about the company, are very efficient, and they are always willing to help each other, a characteristic that is difficult to find in a company.
Where did you go to school?
California State University of Fullerton (CSUF)
What do you like to do on the weekends?
My weekend routine is significantly different than my daily routine. On the weekends I like to do outdoor activities such as hiking, kayaking, or taking my dogs for a walk to the dog beach. Spending time with nature is one of my favorite hobbies; however, I also enjoy spending time reading or painting during my free time.
What is your favorite restaurant?
I am very diverse when it comes to food. I always like to try new places with different types of food. However, my favorite restaurant is Ruth’s Chris Steak House. The restaurant offers high quality meals, with great dessert, outstanding service, and the atmosphere is peaceful and romantic. Just thinking about it, it makes me want to go there soon!
