The Best Western Hollywood Hills is a well-established hotel in Hollywood that was upgraded in 2011. The design was done by Koning Eizenberg Architecture, and the eye-catching signage was done by Newsome Design. not only is this the closest hotel to the Hollywood sign but it also features the 101 Coffee Shop, which has been graced by James Dean, Motley Crue, Johnny Depp and Brad Pitt–to name but a few–and is featured in the movie Swingers. Newson clothed the building with a dot pattern resembling old klieg movie lights which is mirrored in the louvers on the building’s facade. They also kept the “Last Cappuccino Before the 101” mural on the side of the building, creating an experience that captures the essence of the 1950s Southern California while bringing the hotel into a chic new era.
The remodel included renovation of the entire exterior facade, as well as the landscape and hardscape. New concrete shear walls were installed, and the parking circulation was revised. Inside of the building, we rebuilt the lobby and restrooms. City Constructors also renovated the bar and constructed the innovative entry canopy.
